Although I rarely talk about supplements I get a lot of questions about them and I think they're certainly worth discussing. As an athlete I spend a lot of time training and I spend an equal amount of time focusing on my diet. Nutrition plays a huge part in performance and recovery, and I want to be sure that what I'm putting in my body is helping me achieve the outcomes I'm looking for. For me that diet is the paleo diet and I have seen the most gains from eating real food. But I also believe that we can benefit from some supplements, especially elite athletes. For me those supplements include:

  • Caffeine; coffee or a pre workout like PureWOD which is caffeinated with green tea extract.
  • A protein shake (typically post workout) for when I just can't stomach food.
  • And a protein bar for when I need a quick snack on the go, like Beaver Bites

My problem with most supplements in the past has been all of the crappy fillers and awful sweeteners companies use that make me sick to my stomach. I also truly believe in the benefits of taking creatine and beta-alanine and branched chain amino acids (BCAA's), but I can't be bothered to take multiple supplements. It's just too much to think about, especially for someone who just wants to eat good food and workout. So when I came across PureWOD, a pre workout with all of these things and more (check out the full list of all natural and organic ingredients here) I was pretty stoked.

So if you're like me and you've been looking for an all natural pre workout that doesn't make you feel like crap, then I'd highly recommend this one. The only thing that may take a little getting used to is the taste. It's a little different than most pre workouts on the market because it doesn't have a bunch of junk in it to make it really sweet and artificially flavored, but I guarantee you'll get used to the flavor after a few days. You'll even start to appreciate the natural taste. At least I did! And now I'm hooked.

Also, the people behind this company are really cool and guarantee their product, so it's definitely worth trying out.
