It's here. The weekend. The weekend I had hoped I'd be spending in San Diego competing at the CrossFit Games California Regional. Unfortunately, the patellar fracture on my right knee kept me from competing this year. I spent the last year dreaming about going to the CrossFit Games and I was dedicated to making that dream come true. But in October, I started having some knee pain that got progressively worse and began taking a toll on my training. I had been told over and over it was patellar tendinitis, so I'd rest it, but it never went away. Five weeks ago, after I had my MRI and found out about the fracture, I was upset and relieved. Sad and disappointed that I wouldn't be competing this year, but anxious to recover and get back to where I was. The past five weeks have certainly been a challenge and a mental battle. And although I've managed to get really creative in the gym, I've certainly lost some fitness. I took a CrossFit class yesterday and quickly realized I wasn't in the shape I used to be. But I'm constantly reminding myself of the bigger picture; that I'll come back stronger and healthier next year. And I'm ready for it!
This weekend I'll be hanging out with my friends in Reno and doing this workout, hopefully in the sunshine! Are you ready for this brace to come off as bad as I am? Probably not, because that means running will come back to these workouts! I dislike running, but after 6 weeks in a brace, I can't wait to do it. Get ready for it. And happy weekend!
These workouts are made to be done anywhere with minimal to no equipment, so that no matter where you are this weekend, you can get a workout in!
