PurePharma just released a free ebook on Recovery Fundamentals and how to optimize your recovery to enhance your performance. I've talked briefly about recovery in different posts, but I've never dedicated an entire post to it. Which is crazy because it's one of the things I think about the most! If you come to my website it's likely to find healthy recipes which means you're concerned about what you put in your body. And that's awesome! You care about your health and how the food you eat nourishes your body and helps it recover.
As an athlete, post workout nutrition is a big concern of mine. Eating whole foods throughout the day is my main priority, but after an intense workout I often can't stomach a solid meal. That's when I like to make a post workout shake. It's easy to drink, it's delicious, and it provides my body with the proper macro and micronutrients it needs. After an intense workout our bodies breaks down muscle tissue. Supplying it with adequate protein and essential amino acids fuels the repair process and helps to build muscle tissue. It's also important to ingest carbohydrates after you workout to replenish glycogen stores.
If you're looking for an awesome protein PurePharma is my absolute favorite! It's super clean and in addition to providing your muscles with the protein it needs, it also contains freeze dried organic coconut water to replace lost electrolytes during your workout and collagen peptides to support tendons and ligaments. After you've entered the giveaway and you have your hands on some good quality protein, try out this delicious recipe after you workout. It's my favorite. It tastes so good and has all of the macronutrients you need after a good sweat sesh.
