PRODUCT REVIEW: PureWOD Pre

Although I rarely talk about supplements I get a lot of questions about them and I think they're certainly worth discussing. As an athlete I spend a lot of time training and I spend an equal amount of time focusing on my diet. Nutrition plays a huge part in performance and recovery, and I want to be sure that what I'm putting in my body is helping me achieve the outcomes I'm looking for. For me that diet is the paleo diet and I have seen the most gains from eating real food. But I also believe that we can benefit from some supplements, especially elite athletes. For me those supplements include:

THE PERFORMANCE PALEO COOKBOOK and BREAKFAST TACOS

THE PERFORMANCE PALEO COOKBOOK and BREAKFAST TACOS

Last week I received a copy of The Performance Paleo Cookbook by Stephanie from Stupid Easy Paleo. On my first look through the book I stumbled upon her Blackened Fish Tacos with Mango Slaw and immediately got out my shopping list to write down the ingredients I needed. The next day I made them for dinner and they were delicious! Needless to say I'm excited to try more of the recipes from this book.

CAPPELLO'S SLICE AND BAKE COOKIE DOUGH

CAPPELLO'S SLICE AND BAKE COOKIE DOUGH

I had the pleasure of taste testing one of the newest and most exciting things since, well, since forever. Slice and bake paleo cookie dough. Yes you heard me right. You order it online, slice it, bake it, and devour it. Or you just open the package and eat the dough if you see fit.

COOKIES SO GOOD MY ANCESTORS WOULD APPROVE?!

COOKIES SO GOOD MY ANCESTORS WOULD APPROVE?!

That's their slogan and that's what they claim over at Paleo Bakehouse. Well I'm no ancestor yet, but I would like to think I'm a bit of a cookie expert. I received a batch in the mail this week (the day I was supposed to start my 21 Day Sugar Detox of all days) a sign from the Gods? Maybe, okay maybe not, I'm starting tomorrow, but I had to give an honest review, so I'm doing this for the blog. I got three different kinds, Amazing Almond, Chocolate Chip, and Power Brownie Cookie, I like the names, so that was a good start. After I was done taking photographs, sorry if they aren't great, I was anxious to try them, I opened one of each flavor and poured myself a large glass of almond milk, because who doesn't love milk and cookies? And OMG they were soooo good. The Amazing Almond was definitely my favorite. I could have eaten the whole package in one sitting. The chocolate chip was a classic and the power brownie was pretty tasty too. To keep myself from devouring all of them, and to share the paleo love with some fellow crossfitters I packaged one of each flavor up in a bag and took them with me to training in the morning. They had theirs after our workout and I'm pretty sure they came to the same consensus I did. Actually I know they did, my friend and fellow training partner texted me after we left and said "I just ate all of my cookies, they are soo good!! I'm really happy you only gave me 3, otherwise it would have been bad." Haha, exactly how I felt. So if you're looking for a tasty treat to satisfy your sweet tooth with convenience and made from healthy natural ingredients then I'd recommend trying Paleo Bakehouse, I don't think you'll be disappointed!

A 30 DAY INTRO TO PALEO

A 30 DAY INTRO TO PALEO

Hey everyone! Happy Sunday. So I just wanted to share this fabulous 30 Day Intro To Paleo Ebook with you all for a few reasons. For one, a lot of people ask me where to start when it comes to going paleo. And a lot of times people really don't want to read a massive book about all the science behind it. And that's fair enough, we're all busy I know! So here is a perfect opportunity to get started and jump right in. This book is genius, seriously I'm so impressed with Hayley and Bill the authors of this book from The Food Lovers Kitchen. It's practically idiot proof.

WHOLLY CAPPELLO'S I'M EATING PASTA

WHOLLY CAPPELLO'S I'M EATING PASTA

OMG I just ate pasta! And I'll admit I felt a little guilty. I haven't had real pasta in over a year! This is crazy. And possibly the greatest thing since bacon, if I dare say that. So there's this awesome company out of Colorado called Cappello's who sent me samples of the three grain free pastas they carry; fettuccini, gnocchi and lasagne. And I thought, where do I even begin? Is this even going to be any good? I love pasta, and it was a tough one to give up when I went paleo, but it's been over a year now since it's touched my lips and I was content with my life and the lack of pasta within it, or so I thought. But then this happened. I decided to give the fettuccini noodles a whirl first and try a traditional spaghetti and meatball recipe (because I love spaghetti and meatballs). And let me just begin by saying this was so easy to cook. The pasta came shipped to me with a freezer bag to keep them fresh, and then it said to keep them in the fridge, or freeze them if you want to use them later. So I had this box in the fridge and the rest are in the freezer to play with later. I boiled up a little water, popped this package in, and boom, ready in 45 seconds! 45 freaking seconds! How perfect is that?

AN EBOOK WORTHY OF ANY CAVEMAN

AN EBOOK WORTHY OF ANY CAVEMAN

Well this is something new I'm doing. A cookbook review? Yup that's what you heard. I've had a lot of people asking me about what cookbooks I use and which are my favorites. Well I don't have too many cookbooks to be honest, but they are a great resource. I'm also a huge fan of paleo blogs and was beyond ecstatic when one of my all time favorite paleo bloggers The Civilized Caveman, George Bryant came out with his first Caveman Feast Ebook. It's taken me a little while to write this because I wanted to try out the recipes in his book first so I could be sure to give you all an honest review. And I'm glad I did because my taste buds have been utterly thankful!
