I'm really excited to share this recipe and guest post from Bob, the blogger and owner of Not So Fast Food. He's got some incredible recipes, but he was generous enough to share this epic one with me. He also has a Paleo food truck, which is pretty awesome. I think I need to plan a trip down to San Diego to try it out. Anyone want to come along? I combined two of everyone's favorites! BACON & Chocolate Chip Cookies. The craze of the past few years has been the combination of Bacon & Chocolate and I get why! It's FREAKING delicious!!!!!! One dilemma I have on my Primal lifestyle is my sweet tooth.....I absolutely love chocolate. Gummi Bears are my other kryptonite, but, I don't have them very often anymore. Chocolate though, I can't get enough of a delicious piece of dark chocolate, especially with Coconut. Better get ready for A LOT of Chocolate desserts on this Blog. The baking time for the cookies will depend on the size you make them. I aim for a good sized tablespoon of dough!

CHOCOLATE CHIP CRANBERRY N'OATMEAL COOKIES

Well I've been on a bit of a cookie kick lately. Probably because I've made them for my teammates a few times now and they've started to expect them when I turn up for training. I also bribe Mark Bell with them so he'll teach me how to powerlift. It seems to be working. He helped me bench press 200lbs over the weekend and made a really nice video about my deadlift. I think he referred to my form as "a dog crapping on a front lawn" you can check it out here: Fixing Ashley Beaver's Deadlift. Other then that my life has been busy with work and training. I've been training at WarriorZ CrossFit in Elk Grove on their Caffeine and Kilos NorCal Regional team. It's been an amazing experience to say the least. The athletes I've had the pleasure of working with are experienced, knowledgeable and a lot of fun to be around. We push each other, coach one anther, and hang out when we're finished. I couldn't ask for a more supportive group of friends to be training with every day. I made these cookies for a BBQ we had last weekend. Considering the fact that they were gone in 2 seconds, I'm gonna say they were liked somewhat. So you'll probably want to make them. Enjoy and happy weekend!

BUFFINS (aka Protein Muffins)

My baking skills were put to the test by my amazing but skeptical teammate Drew Canavero last week after I posted a picture of myself eating mass amounts of ribs. Why my eating ribs lead to me baking muffins for my team seems a bit strange, but Drew's a bit strange, so I guess it kind of makes sense. You might also be wondering why I would call someone both strange and amazing but he did help me snatch 170lbs, so he's not so bad. Okay I'm getting off topic here. So how did these buffins come about? Well Drew blackmailed me. I can't really explain that part any further, but he wanted rib muffins so I had to make them. I acted confident in my ability to produce delicious rib muffins, but inside I was a little worried. I'd never made a protein muffin before and I had no idea how to cook with protein, but I was determined to figure it out. I also procrastinated and was short on ingredients, so after I whipped these together I didn't even have enough to try them before I fed them to my guinea pigs. I just crossed my fingers and hoped for the best. I guess I got lucky because they were gobbled up before I knew it. I'll have to come prepared with more next time. There's so much I want to tell you, yet nothing seems to want to travel from my brain to the keyboard. I don't know what's happening. So this is either going to be a short post, or a ramble, but either way I won't be hurt if you jump ahead to this bomb recipe. A friend of mine from the gym found a photo on facebook of some insanley delicous looking samoa brownie cookie chocolately heavenly like bars and asked me if I could make them paleo. And since I love her, I did it. It was torture though because I wanted to eat all of them, but I couldn't because I'm doing the whole30 right now, but I'm on day 27! So that's exciting right? Not really when you have these starring you in the face, but it's all good. And I mean who does a 21 Day Sugar Detox, straight into a whole30? Crazy people thats who. And yes I know I'm slightly crazy, it's no secret. So anyway that's that. What else is happening in my life? Since you're all dying to know. We're doing the CrossFit open competition and luckily I'm competing on a very beastly team because I sprained my wrist last week and it's ruined my hopes and dreams of dominating the leaderboard. Okay, it hasn't ruined my hopes and dreams, but it does suck. We were working on a 3 rep max hang clean and on my third one my elbow collided with my knee sending 195 lbs of force onto my wrist. Yes it was devastating. I managed to tape the crap out of it and get 8 muscle ups on last weeks workout, but this week doing cleans was not fun. I did a decent amount, but I had to be extremely cautious on each one. So when you see me fall off the leaderboard you will know why, but like I said, my team kicks ass so I'm not worried. I'll be well rested by regionals and probably more fit than I would be if I hadn't sprained my wrist. Strange I know, but I'm a pretty crappy runner, and I have a feeling I'll be doing a lot of running the next few weeks. So be scared, I'm coming for you.

So I made a joke on Instagram that I wouldn't share this recipe until I found my future husband. But then I realized you'd probably be waiting a very long time. So I'll just give it to you anyway. However, if you take advantage of this delicious recipe, you can pay me back by setting me up with any hot single men you might know. You know where to find me, all forms of social media are right there to the right, just chose one and contact me. I'll be waiting patiently. What else can I tell you? The crossfit open competition just started. I've been spending my days training like a beast, and my nights chillin' like a grandma in the hopes that I will be at least adequate against the insane athletes taking over this sport. Seriously, where are these monsters coming from? My life is the gym (hence why I need you to find me a boyfriend) and I still feel inadequate. And I really don't know what to expect with this first workout. I mean its 17 minutes of burpees and snatches! Okay, burpees and snatches? Fine. 17 minutes? Shoot me! I'm a sub 5 minute kind of WODer. Hopefully my inner beast will kick in and some bundled up form of endurance which I've still yet to find will magically appear. That would be ideal at least. Good luck if your competing in the open, or good job if you've already pushed yourself through this first WOD. You're an animal!

I have a serious addiction to chocolate. I'm just going to be honest and put that out there. I like my desserts smothered in it. And I just like to eat it by the handful. But it's an unhealthy habit. Sure a little dark chocolate is good for you, but I surpass the healthy amount when I get to eating it. So I wanted to come up with a dessert that was delicious and chocolate free! I love cookies, they're so simple and if you have self control (which is another thing I'm working on) you can just have a few and not feel guilty at all! So yea, that's the great news about these cookies, but I'm sure you want to know what's happening in my life as well. Don't you always? Well, I have a lot of free time to cook and blog right now, so that's a win win.

Well I've been a bit MIA lately. I've been making some life changing plans, so my culinary explorations have been on the back burner a bit. I do have some new recipes in the works though so I'm looking forward to sharing them with you. This weekend I did try out these yummy muffins to share with my fellow Tough Mudder competitors and thought you might enjoy them as well. I did the mud run in Sydney yesterday with about 20 others from my crossfit gym and omg was it hard! 20km of mud, obstacles, trail running and more mud. Needless to say I'm hurting today, my feet just want to fall off and my legs are screaming at me. I'm glad I can say I've done it, but I would never do it again! It was painful. If you have a team to do it with though it is a pretty awesome experience and I'd recommend doing it once for sure. Anyway, hope you didn't miss me too much. On with the recipe.

CITRUS COCONUT COOKIES

Oh no I've failed you. I promised one recipe a day and I posted nothing yesterday. Well to make it up to you I will try to post two recipes today. I do have an excuse though. Typically I come home from work and the gym, write a post, eat, shower and go to bed. But yesterday one of my best friends (who's in the navy) returned home from six months at sea! I'm beyond ecstatic to have her back in my life, she's one of my crossfitting buddies as well so she has been very missed at the gym. After work we went out for Tapas (which was a bit of a paleo fail) but I believe we are all entitled to a splurge on the rare special occasion! I could talk for days about how much fun we had catching up and indulging our taste buds in what felt extremely naughty, but I'm on my lunch break posting this and the minutes are ticking away, so on with the recipe. This is something I tried recently from the preppy paleo. They're really tasty and something a bit different.
